GAA:Cork's Noel O'Leary has accepted his four-week ban arising from the red card he received during the win over Kerry on the opening weekend of the Allianz Football League.

The All-Ireland winning defender had initially intended to contest the sanction and take his case to the Central Hearings Committee. However, he subsequently withdrew that request and will now be sidelined until March 6th.

Having already missed the defeat to Dublin, O’Leary has also been ruled out of this weekend’s home tie against Monaghan but will be back in the fold when Cork take on Down in a repeat of the All-Ireland final on March 13th.

O’Leary was involved in an off-the-ball incident shortly after Kerry’s Barry John Keane was dismissed for clashing with the Cill na Martra club man. Television cameras failed to capture the second incident but, after consulting with his umpires, referee Michael Duffy brandished a red card for ‘attempting to strike with the hand’.
