The High Court in Dublin has granted a former member of the INLA leave to seek his release from a 40-year prison sentence under the Belfast Agreement.

Dessie O'Hare, who was jailed 13 years ago for the kidnapping of dentist John O'Grady, was granted leave to seek a judicial review of his sentence yesterday.

His counsel, Mr Conleth Bradley, said O'Hare claimed to qualify for early release under the Belfast Agreement because he had been a member of the INLA when convicted in 1987.
