O'Brien's to offer wireless internet access

Esat BT has teamed up with O'Brien's to provide Wifi internet access in its sandwich bars across Ireland.

Esat BT has teamed up with O'Brien's to provide Wifi internet access in its sandwich bars across Ireland.

Initially, 24 sandwich bars will have the wireless internet access, with remaining suitable locations added throughout 2005.

The BT Openzone service will allow O'Brien's customers to connect to high-speed internet, email or their corporate network without having to connect to a phone line. Customers can either subscribe to the Openzone service or buy vouchers for a day's access (€15), 30 days access (€60) or a €10 pre-paid card. A monthly subscription fee of €40 buys 4,000 minutes of the services.

The service will be available by February to customers in O'Brien's outlets located at Westmoreland Street, Abbey Street, Ballymount, Ballsbridge, Bray, Park West, Tallaght, the IFSC, Dun Laoghaire SC, Galway, Middleton, Ennis, Waterford and Belfast, as well as two outlets in both Wexford Town and Limerick and six in Cork city.

The new hotspots at O'Brien's sandwich bars extends Esat BT's Wi-Fi locations in Ireland to over 170.
