The National Union of Journalists has called on the Taoiseach to account for the Government's failure to introduce a Freedom of Information Bill. The NUJ call marks today's World Media Freedom Day.
The Irish secretary of the NUJ, Mr Eoin Ronayne, said legislation prepared by the Minister for State, Ms Eithne Fitzgerald, did not go far enough in bringing about the necessary change in Government culture.
