NTL Inc, the cable TV group that recently filed for protection from its creditors, is set to increase dramatically the number of channels it offers in a bid to steal customers from British Sky Broadcasting Group PLC, the Observer reported, citing NTL's chief operating officer Stephen Carter.

"We're making our digital TV product a real competitor. You can go to Sky or you can come to us, and we don't want to make that a difficult choice," he was cited as saying.

Tomorrow's launch of the expanded NTL product offering is the result of 20 months of work by NTL and will also include the launch of an expanded digital radio product, adding 17 new channels.
