The dismissal from the Army of a brother of a presidential candidate looked like a re-run of the Dreyfus case in France in the early part of the century, claimed Mr David Norris (Ind).

He called for a debate on the dismissal, almost three decades ago, of Mr Donal de Roiste, a brother of Ms Adi Roche.

Mr Michael Lanigan (FF) said he thought it would be better to leave the matter with the authorities at this time. The leader of the House, Mr Donie Cassidy, said Mr Norris had raised operational matters relating to the Army Chief of Staff. "I have no function in that".
