Extensive campaigning continues today with all the major parties keeping up their push for support and efforts to sway the undecideds in the final days before the election.
Fianna Fáil have lined up some of their most senior politicians for a press conference this morning at which they will be urging the electorate to come out and vote next Friday. Cabinet ministers including Mr Brian Cowen and Mrs Mary O’Rourke will attend.
The Fine Gael leadership will also be strongly represented as Mr Michael Noonan unveils his party’s plans for the first 100 days in government this afternoon.
The Labour leader Mr Ruaíri Quinn is continuing his comprehensive three-day campaigning in Cork, where his party lost huge support and three seats in the last election.
The Progressive Democrats’ Minister of State Ms Liz O’Donnell will join her party leader, Ms Mary Harney, who is canvassing in Leopardstown racetrack this afternoon.
This follows Ms Harney's televised debate with the Sinn Féin president, Mr Gerry Adams, on TV3's Agendaprogramme at lunchtime.
The Green Party's nine women candidates, along with MEPs Ms Patricia McKenna and Ms Nuala Ahern, will launch the party's Manifesto for Womenin Dublin this afternoon.
