Irish interest in the Beijing Games begins on Sunday morning when Pauline Curley takes to the streets of Beijing to compete in the the marathon from 12.30am.

Ciara Peelo and the Star Class duo of Stephen Milne and Peter O'Leary from take to the water at Qingdao at approximately 5am.

Back on the track Derval O'Rourke gets her first taste of the Bird's Nest stadium when she runs in Heat 2 of the 100m hurdles at 12.07pm.

After an encouraging first round, showjumper Denis Lynch is in action in the individual second qualifier starting at 12.15pm.

Michelle Carey and Roisin McGettigan then feature in the 400m hurdles and the 3000m Steeplechase final respectively.
