The division of The New York Times company that publishes the company's 40 websites has made a first-quarter profit of $3.2 million.
The company said its digital arm, New York Times Digital - which includes the flagship The New York Times on the Web, NYTimes.com - had increased its quarterly profits from $200,000 to $3.2 million, with improved advertising sale volume.
The company said it had achieved this despite a war-related slowdown in advertising.
