Grenoble - A Frenchman set a new world record here on Saturday for resistance to cold, when he held out for 42 minutes and 31 seconds buried up to his neck in snow and wearing only bathing trunks. The previous record of 39 minutes was held by a Swede.

Mr Jean-Noel Charolais, sat cross-legged in the snow of minus seven degrees, in the test carried out at the ski resort of Les Deux Alpes in the French Alps.
