Implementation of the North Eastern Health Board's new 24-hour suicide telephone helpline, launched by the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, on Friday, has stalled due to union difficulties. It is understood that the NEHB wants psychiatric nurses to carry cordless telephones so that counselling can be given to callers but SIPTU has instructed its members not to participate until the union has been consulted.
