The Court of Criminal Appeal has directed that Catherine Nevin is to be given some documents sought by her for her appeal against her conviction for the murder of her husband.

The documents to be released to Nevin include some drawn up 10 years ago relating to the listing by the Garda Anti-Rackteeering Unit of Jack White's Inn among a number of pubs for the purposes of discussions between Revenue officials and the garda∅.

Jack White's Inn, which was at one stage owned by Nevin and her husband, was later excluded from further investigation following inquiries.

No prosecution was initiated against any owner or manager of any pub on the list.

However, the Court of Criminal Appeal upheld a claim of privilege by the DPP in relation to other documents sought by Nevin as part of her appeal agains conviction.

It would direct production of documents which the DPP has indicated he was willing to produce.

These include statements taken in relation to a document drawn up in 1991 by the Garda Anti-Racketeering Unit and a note excluding Jack White's Inn, which is near Arklow, Co Wicklow, from further investigation.
