Gardaí believe that a father of four shot dead outside a small country school near Ballydesmond in north Cork this month was lured to the spot by someone whom he trusted.

Detectives investigating the murder of convicted drug dealer David Brett (35) believe that he either arranged to meet someone he knew outside Foilogohig national school or the meeting was arranged by someone he knew.

"He was an able operator, and there was no way that he would go to such a remote spot without feeling secure - he was either going to meet someone he knew or the meeting was arranged by someone he knew and trusted," said an informed source.

Gardaí believe Brett was under severe financial pressure from a Dublin drug supplier.

Detectives have been examining his mobile telephone records in the hope of tracing the calls that he received in the days prior to his murder on May 21st and identifying whoever may have lured him to Foilogohig to be murdered.
