The bullet wound which caused the death of Constable Stephen Carroll (48) would have proved “rapidly fatal”, Northern Ireland’s State Pathologist Prof Jack Crane said yesterday. He was giving evidence at the Belfast trial of Brendan McConville (40) from Aldervale, near Craigavon, and John Paul Wootton (20) from Collingdale, Lurgan, who are charged with the murder of Constable Carroll.
