Murder trial date is set

A trial date of May 8th has been set for the case of a man charged with the murder of a Connemara teenager, Ms Siobhan Hynes

A trial date of May 8th has been set for the case of a man charged with the murder of a Connemara teenager, Ms Siobhan Hynes. The trial is expected to last up to six weeks at the Central Criminal Court.

Over 170 witnesses are expected to be called during the hearing into the case of Mr John McDonagh, The Demense, Keeraunbeg, Carraroe, who has denied the murder of Ms Hynes (17) in December 1998. Ms Hynes's body was found on a beach near Carraroe on December 6th, 1998. Mr McDonagh has been on bail since he was charged.
