Detectives investigating the murder of a 41-year-old man in Swords, Co Dublin, have questioned a number of people but have made no arrests.
Mr Kevin French, originally from Newcastle-on-Tyne in England, was found by his wife, Rita, at about 9.30 a.m. on Tuesday in the back garden of his bungalow home at Abbeylea Green in Swords.
The death was originally considered "suspicious". However, the results yesterday of a post-mortem examination carried out by the State Pathologist, Dr John Harbison, revealed that Mr French had received a fractured skull with internal bleeding.
He is understood to have received a number of blows to the back of the head, and he had a number of injuries on his arms, which suggested that he may have used them to protect himself against blows.
It is thought that the couple drank a bottle of gin at their home on Monday night.
Mrs French is reported to have checked on her husband at about 1 a.m. as he slept in the garden.
Gardaí have talked to a number of drinkers in the area and have appealed for anyone with information to contact gardaí at Swords on (01) 666 4711.
