A 31-YEAR-OLD man accused of killing his baby daughter, a three-year-old-boy and two young women, has been certified unfit to attend court, a judge was told yesterday.

John Geary with an address at Meadow Court, Newcastle West, but originally from Milford, Co Cork, is charged with the murder of Sarah Hines (25), Amy Hines (five months), Reece Hines (3) and Alicia Brough (20) at Hazelgrove, Gortboy, Newcastle West, Co Limerick, on November 15th last.

The unemployed father was due to appear before Newcastle West District Court yesterday.

His solicitor John Herbert told Judge Mary O’Halloran that his client was certified unfit to appear in court.

Previously the court heard that Mr Geary is a patient at the Central Mental Hospital in Dublin.

Insp Dan Flavin asked that the accused be remanded in continuing custody until next month.

Judge O’Halloran agreed to the request by Insp Flavin and adjourned the case until January 4th next.
