Lord Henry Mountcharles said he was only told about the Eminem's decision to cancel the tour early this morning. He expressed surprise and disappointment at the news and said that it was unlikely that the star would be invited back to play at Slane.

"In all the many years that Slane has been running we've never been confronted by a scenario like this. I don't think the Rolling Stones or U2 would cancel a section of a tour owing to nervous exhaustion ," said Lord Mountcharles.

"

Quite frankly I'm very taken aback. Brittle is certainly something this artist has a reputation for. But to effectively have his record company issuing a statement even prior to people like me being informed is to say the least a little bit strange.

"I consider myself a professional and I expect people in the music business to behave in an equally professional fashion. It is a great disappointment. I was looking forward to the show myself. I think he is a stunning artist. I don't think he'll get a slot a Slane again" he added.

MCD has apologised to fans for any inconvenience caused following the cancellation of the concert and said that full ticket refunds will be available from point of purchase from 12 noon on Friday August 19th.
