A road traffic accident in which two people died was recalled at Wicklow District Court yesterday, when an Italian motorist faced a second charge of causing death through dangerous driving.
The accident happened on August 26th at Clonpaddin, Arklow, Co Wicklow. Mr Allesandro Antonelli (23), of Prato, Florence, had already been charged with causing the death of a Dublin mother of three, Ms Cora Hallinan.
Yesterday he was also charged with causing the death of his passenger, Mr Guido Ravalli of Florence, through dangerous driving.
His solicitor, Mr David Tarrant, said the book of evidence had been served on his client and he was prepared to go forward for trial without preliminary examination. He asked that the book of evidence be translated into Italian.
Judge Donnacha O Buachalla sent Mr Antonelli forward for trial to the February sitting of Wicklow Circuit Court. He was released on a fresh bail bond of £20,000.
