Tokyo - The beleaguered Japanese Prime Minister, Mr Yoshiro Mori, faced fresh trouble yesterday that could threaten his tenuous hold on power with the publication of long-rumoured photos of him with a man alleged to be a right-wing gangster.

Analysts said the photos would seriously damage Mr Mori, already one of Japan's most unpopular prime ministers ever.
