The Government was criticised for its poor funding of initiatives aimed at early school-leavers even though 20 per cent of students drop out before completing secondary education.

Fine Gael's education spokes man, Mr Richard Bruton, said the Department of Education spends no more than £20 each a year, or £1 million in total, on early school-leavers.
