It's an intriguing experiment - Stereophonics leader and songwriter Kelly Jones is venturing out on a brief tour to road-test songs from his band's forthcoming album, J.E.E.P. (Just Enough Education To Perform). Playing relatively intimate venues, Jones has been at pains to stress that streamlined rock guitars will not be making an appearance. This leads to an interesting point in relation to Stereophonics' material: will the new songs (and the familiar, as Jones will also be performing selected songs from the band's previous two albums, Word Gets Around and Performance And Cocktails) work without the accompanying bluster of guitar-fuelled antics? Kelly Jones plays a sold-out show at Dublin Vicar Street on Monday, November 13. Support is from the improbably-named Davey Crockett (who happens to be Irish, by the way)
