The world’s media have descended on the small Co Monaghan village of Glaslough for the wedding of ex-Beatle Paul McCartney and former model Heather Mills.

The venue for the wedding is the picturesque 17th century Castle Leslie estate. McCartney (59) and Mills (34) will marry in a historic church in the grounds tomorrow.

A ruck of media is currently camped in the rain outside the estate in the hope of getting a photo of the couple or one of the celebrities on the guest list.

Sting, Eric Clapton, Ringo Starr, Lulu are among the celebrities known to be attending the wedding.

The couple who flew in last night have hired an English-based security firm to keep the media away. However one set of photographers is understood to have hired a helicopter in an effort to evade the security cordon.

This may involve some risk, however, as the estate is located only half a mile from the Border where British army helicopters are based.

McCartney ancestors apparently hail from Co Monaghan and he is known to have visited their graves in recent years.
