Dar Es Salaam - Tanzanian President Benjamin Mkapa took the oath of office yesterday after winning a second five-year term in the east African country's presidential election held on October 29th. He was sworn in by Chief Justice Barnabas Samatta at a ceremony attended by seven African heads of state at the main sports stadium in Dar es Salaam. Mr Mkapa, leader of the ruling Chama cha Mapinduzi party, polled 71.7 per cent of the vote.
