A 17-month old baby who was in care in Northern Ireland and went missing has been found safe and well in a caravan park in Scotland.

Earlier this week PSNI officers released CCTV footage after Sophie Anderson went missing with her parents Lucy Anderson (30) and Stuart Creaney (22).

The infant was collected as normal from premises on Scarva Street in Banbridge, Co Down, at 10.20am on Monday, to be taken to a mother and toddlers’ group.

The pair did not attend the group, and it is understood they then travelled to Belfast, where they boarded the 11.45am sailing to Stranraer. Police believe Sophie’s father boarded the 7.30am sailing earlier that morning.

Police appealed to the couple to return Sophie to her carers as soon as possible or contact social services, close family or police.

This morning a police spokesman said Sophie has been located at a caravan park in Scotland and two people arrested.

They will be transferred to Northern Ireland at a later stage for questioning.
