A Presbyterian minister, who helped broker the loyalist ceasefires in 1994, is attempting to end the feud between the Ulster Volunteer Force and the breakaway Loyalist Volunteer Force.
The Rev Roy Magee has confirmed that he has had talks this week with representatives of both groups in a concerted effort to end the rivalry, which has claimed a number of lives. The Rev Magee said he had only begun his mission and there had been no direct mediation yet. "The process is just at the position where a hand has been extended," he said.
