Three of the most senior members of the judiciary met the new Minister for Justice, Mr O'Donoghue, yesterday to discuss delays in the courts system.

A Department of Justice spokesman said the Minister met the Chief Justice, Mr Justice Hamilton; the President of the High Court, Mr Justice Costello, and the Acting Circuit Court President, Judge Diarmuid Sheridan, at the Minister's St Stephen's Green offices.

The spokesman said the Minister had expressed concern about the delays in hearing cases at the High Court and Circuit Court, and was assured reforms were being implemented or planned which would considerably reduce the time taken for cases to get a hearing.
