Belgrade - The Yugoslav parliament speedily approved constitutional changes yesterday which could enable the Belgrade leader, Mr Slobodan Milosevic, to rule as president for eight more years.

An amended constitution, approved only a day after being proposed by deputies of the ruling coalition, allows Mr Milosevic to seek a new term in office through a popular ballot when his current term expires next year. The leadership of Montenegro accused Mr Milosevic of dealing a final blow to its union with Serbia.
