London - Church leaders, including the Archbishop of Canterbury, could snub the glittering opening of the Millennium Dome unless there is a clear religious role for them on the night.

The churchmen are anxious that the Millennium Moment, a time for spiritual contemplation, should be observed at the £758 million Dome just before midnight on December 31st, 1999.
