Middlesbrough are continuing talks with First Division Derby over the proposed transfer of Malcolm Christie and Chris Riggott.

Derby are in dire financial difficulties and keen to off-load some of their higher earners.

However, the Rams are also determined not to let striker Christie and centre-half Riggott leave too cheaply.

Derby's financial director Andrew Mackenzie told the club's official website, www.dcfc.co.uk: "We are still talking to Middlesbrough about the two players.

"As it stands we are waiting to hear back from Middlesbrough and the ball is in their court at the moment."
