According to a BT HomeCampus surveys[1]: Before purchasing a home computer only 9% of fathers said they were involved most of the time with their child's home learning; the figure increased to 16% after a family PC had been purchased.

Growth in Internet use in Latin America from 1995-97[2]: Over 788%, almost double the average growth rate worldwide; user growth is fuelled primarily by women: close to 50% of all female respondents said they were Net newcomers, compared with only 31% percent of men; 85% of Latin American Net users visited US Web sites; 81% said English was not an obstacle to their using the Internet.
