Gardaí are investigating a menacing phone call made to The Irish Times columnist, Kevin Myers, at the weekend.
Yesterday the Garda press office confirmed it was investigating a threatening telephone call to a public premises in Ballymore Eustace, Co Kildare, on Saturday night.
Myers confirmed that while he was out on Saturday night in the village, an anonymous threatening call was made to him at the premises he was visiting.
However, he denied radio reports that his car was vandalised outside his house.
"The people of Ballymore Eustace don't want to think they have vandals living in their community, and they don't," he said.
"The car wasn't vandalised," he added.
Saturday night's incident followed last week's controversy over the use of the word "bastard" by Myers in a column last Tuesday to describe the children of single parents.
Myers has since apologised for the use of the word.
