Two men have been arrested with a truck full of explosives intended to blow up the George Washington Bridge, WCBS-TVin New York is reporting.
The TV station is quoted as saying that the truck had enough explosives to destroy the entire span of the bridge.
The men are in custody in Meadowlands in New Jersey after police stopped their truck, according to reports.
Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik confirmed that the Port Authority police stopped a van that might have contained explosives. But he added in remarks to television stations that the report remained unconfirmed.
