Beijing - Four Chinese workers survived more than 12 days in a collapsed mine by eating bark from props and pieces of coal, the semi-official China News Service reported yesterday.

The four were trapped on August 12th when their coal mine, near Hancheng city in northern Shaanxi province, caved in after heavy rain.

They were rescued last Thursday.
