A memorial for those killed in the bombing of McGurk's Bar in Belfast in 1971 has been vandalised

A memorial for those killed in the bombing of McGurk's Bar in Belfast in 1971 has been vandalised. The discovery was made at around 2 a.m. this morning. Police are investigating the incident.

The UVF is believed to have planted the bomb which killed fifteen people in the Catholic-owned bar, on North Queen Street, on December 4th, 1971. The bomb brought the entire building down on the customers and the McGurk family.
