The GAA's Central Hearing Committee (CHC) has imposed a ban of €10,000 on the Meath County Board and upheld bans on the five players who requested personal hearings after being suspended for their part in the fracas with Dublin in Parnell Park.
The Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) had recommended that both county boards be fined €20,000 but the CHC last night issued a €10,000 penalty to Meath.
Dublin chose not to contest the recommended fine, but four of their players - Tomas Quinn, Paddy Andrews (four weeks each), Diarmuid Connolly and Bernard Brogan (eight weeks) - requested hearings and had their bans upheld by the CHC.
The decisions on the Meath players mean that goalkeeper Brendan Murphy, defenders Shane McAnarney, Niall McKeigue and Seamus Kenny and midfielder Nigel Crawford remain on eight week suspensions and, if an appeal is not successful, will miss championship games against Carlow (May 18th) and, should they progress, Wexford on June 1st.
The players can appeal the decision with Central Appeals Committee within three days of official notification of the CHC's ruling.
The Dublin players have until tomorrow to appeal but it is understood they will not contest the bans, meaning Connolly and Brogan will miss the championship opener against Louth on June 8th.
