GAA:Saturday's McGrath Cup final between Kerry and Clare has been moved to Dr Crokes Grounds in Killarney and has an earlier throw-in of 3pm in an effort to avoid potential postponements.

The game was originally scheduled to be played at Austin Stack Park on Saturday evening but fears that the venue might become unplayable forced the move.

Kerry won through against an inexperienced Cork side while Clare won their semi-final against Waterford.

Jack O’Connor’s side will start as strong favourites to defend their title despite being without several key players. Kieran Donaghy is still unavailable while Paul Galvin, Killian Young, Tommy Griffin and Aidan O’Mahony are all injured. Tom O’Sullivan hasn’t returned to regular training.

Galvin and Young are carrying groin injuries and appear set to miss Kerry’s National Football League opener against Cork on Sunday week (February 6th).

Cork will also be without several key players for the National League opener. Graham Canty still has a hamstring problem, goalkeeper Alan Quirke has an ankle problem and Anthony Lynch sustained a groin operation.

The trio could also miss further league games against Dublin and Monaghan in the coming weeks.
