McClaren takes over at Wolfsburg

Soccer: Steve McClaren has become the new boss of German side Wolfsburg

Soccer:Steve McClaren has become the new boss of German side Wolfsburg. The former Middlesbrough and England coach had been considering his options after leading FC Twente to the Dutch title at the weekend.

McClaren is known to have attracted interest from back in Britain - but he has rebuffed the chance to return home in favour of a new experience in Germany.

Wolfsburg won the Bundesliga title in 2009 - but things did not go so well for them last season and they sacked Armin Veh shortly after the winter break.

Lorenz-Gunther Kostner was in caretaker control but he could only guide them to eighth.

McClaren has now agreed a three-year deal to take control of the club.
