Patrick McCabe, award-winning author of The Butcher Boy, has been appointed writer in residence at NUI, Galway.

Patrick McCabe, award-winning author of The Butcher Boy, has been appointed writer in residence at NUI, Galway.

Born in Clones, Co Monaghan, in 1955, his novels include Music on Clinton Street, Carn and The Butcher Boy, which won The Irish Times/Aer Lingus Literature Prize and was short-listed for the 1992 Booker Prize. It was filmed by Neil Jordan for Warner Brothers.
