The President, Mrs McAleese, and Dr Martin McAleese were among the mourners at the funeral yesterday in Newcastle, Co Dublin, of Mr Michael Harney, father of the Tanaiste, Ms Harney. The attendance included the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, with Ms Celia Larkin, and Ministers Mr McCreevy, Ms O'Rourke, Mr Dempsey, Mr Smith, Dr McDaid, Mr Dermot Ahern, Ms de Valera, Mr Walsh, Mr O'Donoghue and Mr Fahey. Also there were ministers of state Mr Seamus Brennan, Ms Liz O'Donnell, Mr Bobby Molloy, Mr Noel Treacy, Ms Mary Hanafin and Ms Mary Coughlan, the Attorney General, Mr McDowell, and the leader of the Labour Party, Mr Ruairi Quinn. Mr Harney was buried in Newcastle cemetery following concelebrated Mass led by the parish priest, Father Paddy Shiels. The chief mourners were his widow Sarah, daughters Mary and Geraldine, sons Laur, Michael and Richard, and grandchildren.
