LONDON Scientists who believe life once existed on Mars said yesterday that tiny organisms might still thrive deep below the surface of the red planet.

"The more we learn about the extreme conditions on Earth where life exists, the more I think it is likely that there was once life on Mars," Prof Paul Davies of the University of Adelaide in South Australia said told reporters.
