Marijuana may be a `gateway'

LONDON - Marijuana could be a "gateway drug" that primes the brain for dependence on harder drugs, according to scientists, Tim Radford reports. Two groups of researchers report in the US journal, Science, that the active ingredient in the hemp cannabis does its work in the same region of the brain and uses the same triggers as heroin.
