Manila Speaker and 40 MPs quit

Manila - The Speaker of the Philippine House of Representatives, Mr Manuel Villar, announced his resignation yesterday from the ruling party along with about 40 legislators amid a gambling scandal focused on President Joseph Estrada, a local radio station reported.
