Wicklow county councillors yesterday instructed the county manager, Mr Hubert Fitzpatrick, to bring legal proceedings against himself.

At a third emergency meeting, councillors passed a motion by 17 votes to four, directing the county manager to instruct Fionnuala Cawkhill and Associates, solicitors, to bring proceedings to compel him to comply with the direction of the council to refuse planning permission for a crematorium.

Following the first emergency meeting on July 10th, Mr Fitzpatrick refused to comply with a motion directing him to refuse planning permission for the development.
