Man wounded in Limerick shooting

A man has been critically injured in a shooting in Limerick city this morning.

A man has been critically injured in a shooting in Limerick city this morning.

The 27-year-old victim was shot a number of times in O’Malley Park in Southill shortly after 8.00am. He was taken to the Midwest Regional Hospital.

Gardaí later arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with the attack. He is being held at Roxboro Road Garda station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.

A 20-year-old woman was arrested for public order offences.

The shooting  is understood to be related to a personal dispute between the two men.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact them at Roxboro Road Garda station.
