A north Belfast man who was on the run in the Republic for three years after police found a sawn-off shotgun and a police sergeant's uniform in his house walked free from Belfast Crown Court yesterday morning.

Judge McKay said he was satisfied Mr Henry Mc Court (25) of Northwood Road, had been under pressure from loyalist paramilitaries and in these "exceptional circumstances" he decided to suspend an 18-month sentence for three years.
