Man wielding axe injures PSNI officer in Bangor

A man was arrested in Bangor, Co Down, this morning after an incident in which a police officer was injured with an axe.

A man was arrested in Bangor, Co Down, this morning after an incident in which a police officer was injured with an axe.

The 46-year-old man was arrested after police were called to a disturbance at a house in Blue Road at about 9.20 a.m. When they arrived, they were confronted by the man, who was brandishing a long-handled axe.

One officer suffered minor cuts to his hand in the struggle to overpower the man.
