Christopher Mitchell (25) of Lower Oriel Street, Dublin, a former footballer who was said to have once had a promising career with Tranmere Rovers, pleaded guilty to road traffic offences and being in breach of the peace outside the Harp Bar, O'Connell Bridge, on December 5th last.
Garda Eamon O'Hara, of Pearse Street Garda Station, told the District Court how he saw Mitchell "shouting and roaring" outside the bar at 2 a.m. after being refused entry.
Gda O'Hara said the accused was very drunk and "threatened he was going to kill the doormen". The court heard the defendant had 15 previous convictions.
Judge Gerard Haughton sentenced him to 18 months suspended for three years.
