Man stabbed his `best mates'

Belfast Crown Court has heard that a man stabbed his two "best mates", killing one of them, after a drunken-drug party

Belfast Crown Court has heard that a man stabbed his two "best mates", killing one of them, after a drunken-drug party. They had "bantered" him about being a child molester because he was playing with a four-year-old.

Mr Glen Winchester (29) allegedly stabbed his best friends, Mr Michael Johnston and Mr Brian Hannan, in the Upper Malone area of Belfast last year. Mr Winchester, who denies murdering Mr Johnston and repeatedly stabbing Mr Hannan with a knife and carving fork, claiming he was acting in self-defence, later gave himself up to police. Prosecuting QC, Mr Ken McMahon, said Mr Winchester told the driver of a hijacked car he had just "killed his two best mates" and "stabbed one in the throat and other in the back". The trial continues.
