A 19-year-old man is recovering in hospital today after being injured in a shooting incident in Cork

A 19-year-old man is recovering in hospital today after being injured in a shooting incident in Cork. The man is understood to have been walking with his girlfriend on Thomas Davis street when he was approached by a masked gunman.

The victim attempted to escape the gunman but was shot twice. The gunman then fled the scene in a white Renault car that was later found burned out in White’s Cross. Gardaí are investigating the circumstances behind the shooting.
